Top 5 IndigoKids Holiday Wishlist Items

Wait. Am I really thinking about the holidays and wishlists already?

Yes I am! Not only does making those lists now give you ample time to prepare and shop, but spreading out the holiday purchases over time greatly eases monthly budgets, and lessens stress at the same time. In fact, it’s the biggest tip I have for the holiday season, because one fell swoop of any amount isn’t preferable over smaller chunks.

Plus, there’s so much to do when December arrives –  I know it’s been a full year; but try and recall the plethora of wrapping, cooking, and entertaining that fills the holiday season. If a cold shudder goes down your back upon recollection, and there isn’t a draft in the house, that’s all the more reason to get started now! Tackling the bulk of your shopping now will have you in a much merrier spirit.

As with anything, we parents always think of the kids first – so the task I complete is crossing off the items on my children’s wishlists. Experience has taught me that hopping store to store {and idea to idea} is usually fruitless and really does nothing to reduce the stress, no matter how early you start. So for one-stop awesome shopping – keep IndigoKids in mind.

IndigoKids delivers a dynamic retail experience that ignites joy, imagination, and discovery in kids of all ages. In addition to carrying the largest selection of children’s books in the country, customers will also enjoy toys from all of the brands families know and love like LEGO, Playmobil, Shopkins, Disney and Ty, as well as specialty brands such as American Girl, The Honest Company, Skip Hop, and Melissa and Doug.

That’s right, your favourite bookstore also offers plenty of gifting choices for the entire family – including kids! I’m teaming up with Indigo this holiday season to help showcase some of the most sought-after IndigoKids holiday gift ideas for 2016.

Here’s a sampling of what’s hot and wanted from IndigoKids, straight from the wishlists of my own kids!

My Kids Top 5 IndigoKids Holiday Wishlist Items:

Isabelle, age 12

1.) Tales of the Peculiar book, $30.21  – Isabelle previously read Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children in a matter of a few days, and loved it so much that she’s telling all her friends to dive right in, especially before they see the film in theatres. Tales of the Peculiar is a companion to the mentioned book and one which I know Isabelle will be excited to read. There are many truly brilliant stories in Tales of the Peculiar—the collection of fairy tales known to hide information about the peculiar world, including clues to the locations of time loops.

2) Diary of a wimpy kid: book 11 – This series of books is wildly popular among the tweens and teens, and book 11 will be out just in time to wrap it and put it under the tree. In this book in the series, the pressure’s really piling up on Greg Heffley. His mom thinks video games are turning his brain to mush, so she wants her son to put down the controller and explore his ‘creative side’. As if that’s not scary enough, Halloween’s just around the corner and the frights are coming at Greg from every angle. When Greg discovers a bag of gummy worms, it sparks an idea. Can he get his mom off his back by making a movie . . . and will he become rich and famous in the process? Or will doubling down on this plan just double Greg’s troubles? For all the silliness it contains, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Book 11 is going to be one hot book to gift this holiday season!

3) S’well Water Bottles, $45.00 – All I keep hearing my 12 year old saying is how much she wants/needs a S’well water bottle, being first introduced by a teammate on her cheer team. Hey, if it gets them excited about staying hydrated all day long – so be it! Turns out these are the must-have water bottles for kids and adults alike, and are famous for being eco-friendly, non-leaching and non-toxic – along with such a wide assortment of fun styles. S’well water bottles also keep your drinks cold for 24 hours and hot for 12, making them a wonderful gift that anyone would use daily.

4) Fitbit Alta, $169.95: My daughter is a competitive cheerleader and since she’s fierce in her pursuits, she’s stated a want for a Fitbit. Since I myself have had one for quite some time now, I know how much it helps in the journey to a healthier me {it’s been my top new-have of 2016}. So even tweens and teens can utilize the Fitbit Alta for the same reasons why I love mine so much –  track water intake, activity, steps, and calories burned.

This smart bracelet displays your sleep patterns and even has a handy silent alarm to gently buzz the wrist, to help get the tween out of bed for school! Win/Win! No matter where you’re headed, the easy-to-read OLED screen keeps your goals in focus with stats, time, and call or text notifications on display. And with accessory wristbands in metal, leather and sport, help you find the right style for every occasion.

5) Yummy World Donut Plush, $19.95: Fun food plush pillows is where it’s at with the tween scene, don’t ya know?! Whether you go for the fries, taco or the donut one like my daughter’s must-have, it’s trendy to have your favourite fun foods on display for all to see. These sweetly sized 10″ plush pillows are all found at Indigo, perfect for sitting on the bed, couch, and going with for sleepovers.

Sophia & Katelyn, Age 8

1). Thea Stilton Special Edition #5: The Treasure of the Sea, $19.99: My two little avid readers, at 8, are just crossing over into larger chapter books, which has opened a new world of reading beyond what they’ve previously enjoyed. To foster and encourage, gifting a great book is a wonderful idea. For my twins, Thea Stilton Special Edition #5: The Treasure of the Sea is one that I know they’ll love! This aquatic adventure chapter book is about Thea Stilton and the Thea Sisters helping another magical land. The music of the sea has disappeared from the depths of the enchanted Land of the Ocean! If it doesn’t return soon, the kingdom will perish. I’m sure two excited little voices will tell me all about the story!

2).Wellie Wishers Ashlyn Doll, $74.95: My twins at age 8 are so into dolls right now, and ever since the introduction to Canada – they’ve asked for an American Girl doll. These smaller {36.8 cm} Wellie Wisher dolls are perfect for their age. I know Wellie Wisher Ashlyn will be welcomed with big hearts in our home and into my twins hearts. You see, Ashyln is a princess-in-training (and party-planner extraordinaire). She’s just the one to turn a friend’s frown upside-down. She has brown eyes, freckled cheeks, and long silky brown hair that can be brushed and styled. She includes a fancy pink top with lace print, a Peter Pan collar, and golden satin ribbon, a tiered pink skirt with golden ribbon trim, and a pretty pink tiara.

3.Carrot & Hutch, $54.95: This set is a fantastic Wellie Wisher accessory kit and really is too cute for words! Carrot has a sweet embroidered face and soft fur. This set also includes a brightly coloured hutch with a door that opens into a ramp, Carrot’s name sign to hang on the side, a bundle of pretend carrots with a food bowl, and a fun carrot-shaped water dispenser. To further imagination and play every Wellie Wishers doll must have some little friends and accessories, and this one is such a great toy to add to the collection!

4. Shopkins Secret Sweets, $19.95: Yes, Shopkins are still going strong for the 2016 holiday gifting season, so don’t be surprised when you see it on many kids wishlists this year. IndigoKids has a large assortment of Shopkins Collectables – there’s plenty to suit their wants even when excluding the ones they already have. My twins will be pleased to see the The Shopkins Sweet Treats game under the tree this year. In this game players move trying to figure out where they’re hiding and make matches. It includes 4 exclusive Shopkins that are 30% larger than regular Shopkins too.

5. Lego Friends Advent Calendar, $39.95: Each holiday season I try and get a fun-themed advent calendar for the kids to count down to Christmas. The Lego Friends Advent Calendar is not only a great way to count down, but includes daily Lego surprises and building fun. It’s the Lego gift that keeps giving 24 days long, add a new piece to your creation each and every day – you’ll find everything Emma and Naomi need to put on a festive musical performance, and make preparations for the big day with Christmas gifts, crafts and treats. You might even find some furry friends inside too!
