Sears Christmas Wish Book

Long before the tree is up and Christmas music is played in stores, the starting point of our holiday season is pretty much marked with the arrival of the annual Sears Wish Book.

As a kid, the second best thing to Christmas itself was cracking open the Sears Christmas Wish Book for the first time. Very carefully, I’d leaf through all those pages with pen in hand – circling everything I’d love to have. In fact, I don’t recall ever giving my parents a wish-list written on paper. It’s as an adult that I realized that they simply had to flip through the Wish Book, and it’d spill all.

Fast forward through the years and the Sears Wish Book is still as highly anticipated as it was way back when. I try and get to it first, just as before, and flip through all the greatest in gifting ideas with coffee in hand, while the girls are at school. Then, the kids come home and they spend hours hunched over the pages – folding corners, circling items and comparing notes on who needs to get what.
