Through the year I make a lot of Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Loaves, so changing it up and making some Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread is a welcome addition to the Fall season.

You can easily say my bread transforms with the seasons, because soon it’ll be time to make this Cranberry Eggnog Bread.

Welcome fall and all the fall flavors!

I set out this season to make more recipes with pumpkin, asking friends for their favourite recipes to try.

I wanted to increase the ‘pumpkin’ collection in my recipe box, thinking it will perhaps will decrease the amount of Pumpkin Spice Lattes that I make at home.

When really, it doesn’t. I can’t stop the lattes! Especially when I make my Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer and pair it with my favorite fall recipe.

I also love incorporating seasonal foods with breakfasts, like making these Pumpkin Spice Cream Cheese Muffins.

This recipe along with these muffins, are my kids favourite fall breakfasts before they go off to school.

So, a friend sent me s Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread recipe, though it was more of a ‘I don’t bake so can you make this for me?’ request.

What can I say, I’m a dedicated friend, so I made this easy bread that same day.

Bread and Chocolate

This homemade pumpkin bread is really easy to make, it uses canned pumpkin puree and a few key ingredients that you most likely have on hand at all times.

I also used the jumbo chocolate chips because, well, chocolate. I love milk chocolate chips, yet you can always use dark chocolate chips if that is more to your liking.

The days of bland pumpkin bread are behind us, because this bread tastes like a dessert.

How to Make Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread

You’ll need the following ingredients to make this recipe:

  • pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • vanilla extract
  • eggs
  • sour cream
  • vegetable oil
  • all purpose flour
  • white sugar
  • salt
  • baking powder
  • baking soda
  • chocolate chips
  • optional: pumpkin pie spice

To Make: Grease (with cooking spray) and flour a loaf pan. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt.

In a medium bowl, add the pumpkin pie puree, eggs, oil, vanilla, and sour cream. Combine the wet ingredients until smooth.

Using a fork, sift the dry ingredients once more, and make a “well” into the flour mixture.

Pour the wet ingredients into the flour well, and whisk together until smooth. Fold the chocolate chips into the batter, and pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.

Sprinkle with remaining extra chocolate chips and bake until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Cool on a wire cooling rack, and enjoy!

This best pumpkin bread recipe is great for breakfast, sending a slice of pumpkin bread for school lunches, a snack or perfect afternoon fall treat.

It’s also for gifting a loaf of chocolate chip pumpkin bread to others. You can also easily make mini loaves using this recipe, just adjust the baking time to suit.
