The 50 Most Visited Tourist Attractions in the World

Last week I stumbled upon the following infographic titled, ‘The 50 Most Visted Tourist Attractions in the World‘. Thanks to my passion for all things travel, I couldn’t help but to take notice and read in entirety. Then, remembering the list a few days later, I came back to it and studied it again.

I’m fascinated!

Now, there’s something to be said for travelling to the lesser beaten paths, and taking in what few others even consider. Yet there’s the curiosity – the allure of seeing the most popular places in this world.

It’s experiencing for yourself, why these iconic places bring in so many people. Truth is, you could mix a little of both and plan to see a famous structure on your way to a lesser-known region. That is, the joy of traveling, right?

As I read through the entire 50 attractions, I smile in the fact that I have visited quite a number of them. Nevada {I stayed at the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas}, France, Disney Parks, New York, San Francisco and more.

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

Each one of these holds a special place in my heart, full of dear memories. Many of these I’ve talked about in my travel articles here on My Organized Chaos

Without questions, there’s more that I’d love to cross off my travel bucket list, New Orleans for one. Sydney, Australia is another.

How about yourself?

How many places off the ’50 Most Visited Tourist Attractions in the World’ list below, have you travelled to? Have any favourites?

Are there locations that You’d love to see on this list that were missed? I think Turks & Caicos is a location that impressed me so much it should be included. When there for the first time we stayed at Beaches Turks and Caicos.

  1. I have been to a few on the list, but there are so many places that i still would love to visit.

  2. I’ve been to a few of these places but not near enough! Looks like I’ve got to start doing more travel!

    1. NYC is fantastic, I oddly find the hustle and madness calming … that’s so strange even to type that.

  3. I need to travel more!! I have only been to about 8 or 10 of these places (like The Zocalo, Disney Land, Pike Market, Universal Studios). Who wants to go to London with me!?

  4. I am really surprised that the Las Vegas strip is the most popular. That one surprises me! I have been to all of the Paris France destinations and they are definitely a highlight of my life.

    1. Me too Amber! I cherish my time in France, and since it was an organized tour, I seen all of them from the list. I was a little shocked too about Vegas, but man, it’s always jam packed there – so I can’t argue with that.

  5. It makes me sad that I haven’t seen most of these places. I hope to see many of them one day!

  6. I have been to several of these places but there are so many more I would love to visit! I hadn’t even heard of some of these before.

  7. That’s a neat infographic, I’ve only been to Disney World and the main parks there so its neat to me.

    1. 15 is great! Sure makes you reminisce on past trips and eager to go on another adventure!

  8. I’ve been to Vegas once, but I had to rush through it because we had our 1 year old with us. I’d love to go back one day and actually see what the night life is like!

    1. Yes, I think it’s time you went back! While I’m all for taking the kids along, there’s much to be said about not taking them! 😉

  9. Good for you that you’ve already visited most of these places. I’ve been to a few places but I see so many more places I need to visit on this list. Hopefully starting this year.

  10. I’ve only been to Niagara Falls, the Disney World parks in Orlando, Central Park and Times Square in NYC and the Navy Pier in Chicago – so much more of the world to see!

  11. I’ve been to 3 on the list, wow my travel experience has been very limited. I have always wished to have the funds to do more traveling. Thanks for the list it was fun to check it out.

  12. I’ve only been to 4 but I’ve been to one of them twice. Oddly enough, though I’ve never wanted to go to Las Vegas, that is where I’ve been twice (both times for a friend). I’ve also been to Niagara Falls, Disneyland (Anaheim), and Pike Place Market, Seattle.

  13. Wow, I’ve been to 9. That’s not much. Mind you there are tens of places I wouldn’t go to (I’m grown up now).

  14. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was wondering what all is needed
to get set up? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?
I’m not very internet savvy so I’m not 100% positive.
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

  15. Interesting…. I have been to approximately half of those locations, and very few stand out in my memory as being my favorites. I will always take nature over cityscapes, and this is probably why.

  16. I’ve been to 15 of the 50. I’ve come close to a few more though – was in Chicago but didn’t get to Navy Pier. Have been to Paris, but missed a couple there. Somehow, I’ve never been to New York (outside of the airport). So if I had planned better, would likely be closer to 20-25.

Just this year we finally made it to Vegas. Reading this list brought back a lot of great memories!

  17. I’ve only been to Niagara Falls. We live about 40 minutes away so we go all the time. I guess I need to win the lottery so I can travel more!

  18. 4 out of top 5 and then downhill from there…………………….lots on the bucket list
