New kaboom! Entertainment DVD Releases {giveaway}

With school, activities and life in general, our days are pretty chaotic to say the least. Yet, that just makes family downtime all the more special and relaxing. Usually occurring on statutory holidays or weekend evenings, I love the time spent cuddling up with the kids and having a movie night.

Just in time for family day and March break, kaboom! Entertainment has some new DVD Releases for the whole family to enjoy. We received some of these DVD’s for review, and spent some of our downtime watching them. So if you are needing some great title suggestions, here’s the deets with your chance to win!

I would like to introduce you to a few of the newest kaboom! Entertainment DVD releases, just in time for Family Day.

• Mike The Knight, Galahad the Great– at Walmart on February 12

As Mike’s best friend and trusty steed, Galahad is always there for Mike. In Galahad the Great Mike is determined to be the best horse trainer in Glendragon. He wants Galahad to look perfect really knightly! Galahad faithfully wears whatever Mike suggests but the bells on his hooves stop him from Silent Sneaking and the new heavy saddle stops him Tricky Trotting. When it all goes wrong, Mike learns that Galahad looks better and, of course, very handsome, just the way he is!

Ideal for any Mike the Knight fan, this DVD contains 5 episodes of this Treehouse TV show. With a ‘help others’ theme, and great adventures, this was a great watch for my twin pre-schoolers. They were very interactive with the DVD, talking to each other about what was happening and to the characters throughout.

• Horrid Henry:  The Movie – available February 19

Based on the book series by Francesca Simon {second most successful children’s literary character in the U.K. after Harry Potter} and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) nominated animated series, Horrid Henry.

We hadn’t even heard of this title before, yet it has quite the all-star cast: Anjelica Huston (The Addams Family, Smash), Parminder Nagra (Bend it Like Beckham, “ER”), Richard E. Grant (Dracula, The Corpse Bride) and Theo Stevenson (In Bruges).

This movie is silly, absurd at times and stock full of kid-humor {ex. picking of the nose, sliming people etc}. In other words, full of everything that kids would laugh and react to. While this film is packed with crazy silliness, it still manages to convey important messages of helping others and doing the right thing. Overall, a great choice for movie night!

The DVD came with a bunch of slime to play with, something which has amused my 8 year old immensely since it arrived. Really, who knew my little princess would love this stuff so much. Way more than a DVD, it is a great pack to gift providing much entertainment in more ways than one!

• The Jungle Book: The Movie – available March 5

Based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless, classic tale, The Jungle Book: The Movie brings classic characters including Mowgli and Baloo back for new adventures. The girls noticed right away that it was Disney’s version of The Jungle Book, yet the love the story and the chance to see another adaptation. So, they were pretty excited to watch.

While my little reviewers don’t ever go into too much explanation into why they like a film, they did. All they said, with smiles on their faces, is that they’d watch it again. In case you are wondering, no, I didn’t watch this film with them this time. I took this DVD in the car for some road-trip distraction. Worked like a charm!
