Cinderella Diamond Edition on Blu-ray

I know Cinderella wasn’t the first Disney Princess, yet to me she was the first. I still recall watching as a child, in utter amazement. The transformation scene still leaves me breathless. The songs sing from the heart. Who wouldn’t want the makeover of a lifetime by the fairy godmother? {ok, so I kinda did as a celebration of the release!}.

Better yet, who wouldn’t want a prince charming and those beautiful glass slippers! How about just showing up those evil step-sisters with a little bit karma! Ya, that Cinderella seemed to live it all, yet still obtain that class and charm.

Here’s your chance to fall in love all over again with the highly anticipated Cinderella Blu‐ray™ Diamond Edition Collection, on October 2. The girls and I watched with smiles, I love that it holds so much magic for them as well. Yet we all know the story, and if not just to have it on convenient Blu-ray, why should you get this Diamond Edition?

In short, it has some of the best special features that I’ve seen in a long time! Cinderella’s Personalized Digital Storybook: Bibbidi-Bobbidi-You is an app for iOS devices that combines with the information of Blu-ray to create an experience of the story with levels of involvement. Mini games and feedback from the Fairy Godmother herself make this a unique experience for young movie watchers.

So, as the story is told, kids can play along on the device, to learn and just have fun! I got a sneak peek when I was at the Animation Research Library for the #DisneyInHomeBloggers event. So, the first day that this Digital Storybook became available, I showed the kids and they love it!

Speaking of which, did you know that the fairy godmother was based on a real woman? The “Fairy Godmother of Burbank” is Mary Alice O’Connor, and she inspired the character. Her husband had the task of bringing the fairy godmother to life, and he chose all the qualities of his wife – kind-hearted, always volunteering and donating. He even pictured what she’d look like years later, and sure enough Mary Alice O’Connor ended up resembling the fairy godmother too!

You can learn all about this heartfelt story as it’s a bonus feature {entitled ‘The Real Fairy Godmother’}, which is amazing. Yet, I had the pleasure of hearing about Mary Alice firsthand, from her daughter. We met her in LA, and tears were flowing when we all heard what kind of woman she was. I have an all-new love for the fairy godmother, and you will too. I highly recommend that you watch this feature on the Diamond Edition Blu-ray.

Also worth a round of applause if the return of the popular short, “Tangled Ever After”. This featurette stole my girls hearts, as they seen the royal wedding of Rapunzel {Tangled} and Flynn. It’s funny and nice to see these characters again, yet did their wedding go as planned? You’ll have to watch!

There are SO MANY more bonus features to the Cinderella Blu‐ray™ Diamond Edition Collection, way too many to go into length here. Since we have went through the features a couple times already, I’d say this edition is well worth the money. A wonderful classic movie to add to the collection, yet it really does offer so much more!
