Secret of the Wings

Let’s start off with the obvious here, guys … Secret of the Wings is a must-see Disney film. Must.

While the previous Tinker Bell films are watched often in this house and highly adored, I’m gonna say that Secret of the Wings is our newest favorite of them all. Brave statement there, Tammi. Let me tell you a little about the film, and why little fairy fans will LOVE the newest addition..

Sisterhood. At its finest.

In this movie Tinker Bell reunites with her long-lost sister, Periwinkle. In fact, they are twin sisters. Right away you have to know why I adore this film and why it resonates so much with my own 4 year old twins. Completely relatable. Yet even if you don’t have a twin nor have twin children, it’s all about FAMILY. Sticking up for one another and sharing that lasting bond that no-one or no season can break. Good message, right?

If you ask my girls which part of the film they like most, they will all agree its when Tinker Bell and Periwinkle first meet. It’s truly a remarkable, emotional and magic moment.

I already posted some amazing behind-the-scenes information on Secret of the Wings, and it’s true that years of research and hard work went into making the film. Regarding this particular bond between sisters and meeting for the first time, did you know that the production team actually talked to twin-study experts to discover exactly how twins react upon meeting each other for the first time?

FYI: Take note of the photo below and when you watch Secret of the Wings, listen for the part when Tinker Bell says: “You collect lost things too?”. Fun Fact: I went into the sound studio at Disney Toon Studios and recorded my voiceover for that scene, saying that line! Yep, I got to BE Tinker Bell!

Beyond the adorable and loveable boy and girl fairy characters; there’s also humor, adventure – all mixed up in a vividly colorful film. Plus, it’s the introduction of the Winter Woods, and as a Canadian it’s absolutely hilarious to see the fairies from Pixie Hollow react when they are in the cold snow for the first time. Ha!

The Disney Fairies {and now with the introduction of the Winter fairies to the family} are a group of friends that work together despite their differences. The message is one of support, friendship and having belief in oneself. My friends, that is a wonderful message for any kid to learn.

Secret of the Wings comes out on October 23rd on Blu-ray™ Combo Pack, DVD and Digital Download. If not now, something I recommend gifting at Christmas. Hint, hint.
