Dining on the Disney Wonder
I hadn’t cruised before sailing on the Disney Wonder, yet remarks from others centered hugely around ‘the food’. I knew my family and I were in for superb dining on the Disney Wonder, yet I was very happily surprised at the variety, in food choices as well as where to get that meal or quick snack.
Like I said in my previously in my Disney Wonder review, there is a unique rotational dining schedule. This way, all guests can experience each restaurant on the ship. Yet don’t think it’s your run-of-the-mill restaurant, each has a theme and a different menu offering such wide selections and fun for the entire family.
I especially liked the stark black and white decor of Animator’s Palate, it has an authentic animation feel in that space. I could stare at the sketches on all over the walls for hours.
Yet, Triton’s is always popular, the entrance is right where Ariel’s bronze statue is right in the main lobby. Little-Mermaid decor yet with an elegant feel, a wedding party had their dinner there one night. In reality, dining guests went to the happy couple’s reception!
If you ask my kids, they’ll say they loved the character breakfast at Parrot Cay the most. Think of it as a nice family brunch with many Disney Characters coming to visit right at your table. No need to wait in line, my girls thought it was ‘cool’ that they could munch on bacon until Mickey Mouse makes his way over, don’t forget those autograph books!
Saving the best for last, Palo is one adult-only restaurant that should not be passed by. A perfect excuse to let your kids have fun at kids-club for a while, Palo is the only restaurant on board that comes at an additional cost. Yet, for $20 for a fabulous dinner – not an issue when you see the ambiance, romantic views and exceptional food available. I HIGHLY recommend, if not beg that you go.
The décor and food of the Palo restaurant are inspired by Italy, the birthplace of the Disney Wonder. Palo takes its name from the poles that line the canals of Venice, and boasts beautiful artwork and blown glass creations at every turn. Foodies, do I have your attention? Rather than list a bit of the selection or bore you with words, photos will make you salivate more. So here they are. Your welcome.
Palo offers desserts such as cheesecakes, an assortment of gelato, and its signature dessert, the chocolate soufflé served with a vanilla bean sauce {to.die.for}. There is also a wide selection of reserve wines, yet if wine isn’t your thing, they have any other choice imaginable as well. I quite enjoyed the Mimosa’s!
If you are in for a more casual meal, check out the options for fast dining service. Stop at the Beach Blanket Buffet, we chose this location for a couple breakfasts and lunches. They had a great selection for all, yet sometimes it’s hard to get seating inside for larger groups right at peak hours {Yet, there’s outdoor seating as well, which as you see below, has one of a kind views}.
For a quick bite there’s Goofy’s Gallery, Pinocchio’s Pizza, Preludes and Pluto’s Dog House or Preludes. Pluto’s Dog House is located near the kids pool, serving up hot dogs, chicken fingers, hamburgers and beef on a bun. On the other side of the kids pool is Goofy’s Galley, and this is where you find healthier options such as paninis, fruits and wraps. Yet, I have to commend Pinocchio’s Pizza, their pizza is delicious. Right by the big outdoor movie screen, enjoy a slice in the evening while taking in a movie by the pool.
As for refreshments; pop, juice, coffee and hot chocolate are free to all guests. There’s convenient stations to grab that drink whenever you want, night or day. Alcoholic drinks and water comes at an extra cost. Yet, you can drink the tap water in your room, so if you like to sip water all day long, I’d suggest bringing a travel mug!
No matter which option you choose, be prepared for great service and warm smiles. If you aren’t familiar with the special attention your family gets from your meal servers, make sure to read up on it in my previous Disney Wonder review, it’s a pretty big deal!
Yet, don’t forget that there’s 24 hr room service as well. As you can see the options are endless, you’ll never get bored with the food, I promise! For those needing vegetarian and gluten free options, just tell your server and your wish is granted!
Bon Appétit cruisers!

Looks like a great and fun experience
you got that right, Ann Marie! Add delicious to that as well!
🙂
I’m literally drooling on my keyboard, wow!
Ha, watch out!! You’ll need that keyboard to book/research your own vacay!
lol
Simply amazing!! I have to admit, one thing I do worry about when I travel with my girls is what they will eat. They are not the most adventerous eaters, and when taking them to places like Mexico etc I tend to be a bit of a worrier that we will end up with some food that their delicate systems won’t be able to handle. Looks like s Disney Crusie would eliminate all these worries for me! (err and them) Plus the adults only restuaraunt? Brilliant! Thanks for sharing your adventures!
One night my twins ordered something and just wouldn’t eat it, promptly something else was brought out for them. Usually I’m not one for complying to their pickiness so much, yet I wanted them to have a good meal, so I agreed. Same goes for adults too, very nice to have this option!
I get sea sick!
Ha, have you been on a cruise before?
I definitely felt the rocking and thought I’d be a prime candidate, yet I was fine!
🙂

How was Alaska Nancy? Wondering with the cold plus the wind, was it too cold to go in the pools?
Hi Tammi – I won’t be there until next June – 2013! I’m not planning on any pool time, but then again, I don’t go much for the pools anyway.
Looks like you and your girls are having an amazing adventure!

wow that looks amazing!!!!! maybe someday…..if I win the lotto!?
I wish I could take my boys on a cruise like this. It looks like an adventure of a lifetime. 🙂
Is all the food free except Palo’s? It’s odd they would want you to pay for water. I’m surprised the fountain drink station doesn’t have a water option. Other then that I want to go so badly lol
Becky, no cruise ships offer free water, except from the tap. Which I kinda get, if it was free can you imagine how much water they’d have to bring onto the ship? That would be crazy, I think!
I would so love to take my family and grandkids on this cruise!
I hope to be able to do this with my family one day! It looks sooo fun! I just always think of it as not in the budget!
great fun and great food makes for a great time 🙂 awesome pics !
Awe your girls look so happy! How adorable are they! So nice when parents can do that for their children and it looks like good food and fun, so envious not being healthy enough to do this so my belief is do it now while your healthy, no excuses that we use, time, money etc. I am so glad your family is having these great adventures!
