How to Tell Your Kids ‘You’re Going to Disneyland!’

My family and I just got back from a magical adventure aboard the Disney Wonder which included a trip to Disneyland. One of the first things hubby and I wondered after getting that jaw-dropping invite was, “How do we tell the kids?”.

After all, I’m not the type of person to casually break news like this over breakfast cereal. I like to do things big, especially for something this big, just like when we told the kids they were going to Walt Disney World in April. Fact is, the Disney excitement starts right at planning and continues long after you come home, so I wanted a really memorable way to tell the girls.

So, we waited and thought about it … and thought some more. Months passed and we still couldn’t come up with the plan.

And then the PERFECT opportunity arrose.

A couple weeks before this trip, I went to LA for the #DisneyInHomeBloggers event, which included spending a day at Disneyland, sans kids. Part of the event was watching Secret of the Wings, a new Tinker Bell movie {available on Blu-ray on Oct 23rd, 2012}. As well, I got to be one of the first people to meet the newest frost fairy, Tinker Bell’s twin sister, in person.

And there’s the opportunity we had been waiting for!

Tinker Bell and Periwinkle heard about our upcoming family trip and were more than happy to record a video for my own twins plus one, announcing the news that they were going to Disneyland.

SURPRISE!

.
How perfect was that timing, the girls went WILD after watching!

I have been chomping at the bit to share this video yet I was sworn to secrecy until Periwinkle’s ‘official’ release to the public. I’m now able to share and am happy to say that she is now doing meet and greets with Tink at Disneyland Park. And yes, my girls did get to see them!

So, how did my girls’ visit go with these two fairies who have captured their hearts completely? I’ll tell you all about it very soon, there’s much to tell about our latest Disney adventure!

Until then: always believe in faith, trust and pixie dust!
