Ice Age Continental Drift ~ Arctic Games

Of all the games that my kids have, the ones they like the most are those that are made from movies. The Ice Age movies are high up there in their ‘most watched, most favorite’, and Ice Age Continental Drift is no exception. When they were sent the new Ice Age Continental Drift Arctic Games for Nintendo DS, they were thrilled. Here’s a little about the game:

Ice Age: Continental Drift – Arctic Games, a secret treasure has fallen into the hands of the Ice Age gang and trouble has stirred over the glaciers as to who will keep the prized riches. Naturally, the best way to settle the score is through a series of wintery sporting events! Join the jolly “Herd” or the mischievous “Pirates” to compete in the first ever Arctic Games to determine who can land their paws on the prize. Play as Manny, Diego, Sid, and other prehistoric pals in competitive games like glacier hopping, ski jumping, and squirrel cannon. Gamers can compete through story mode, free play, and tournament style games to reach for new records and earn gold, silver, and bronze acorn medals.
Ice Age: Continental Drift – Arctic Gamesis perfect for gamers of all ages to get together and laugh their way through silly competition. It’s time to team up with your favorite sub-zero friend and go for the gold!

On Ice Age: Continental Drift – Arctic Games for DS, you can play with one or two players. If one is played, the player get sto choose from either the Pirate or Herd team {with two players, each is on opposing teams. Rated ESRB “E” rating, for everyone, it’s a pretty easy game and my daughter finished within the week {she plays an hour a day}. Here are summaries of each event. Any mention of collecting acorns = bonus points or bonus time:

The girls noticed right away that the characters in the game have the same voices as the movie. My oldest says her favorite game is Glacier Hopping where the player dodges obstacles and collects acorns. The goal is to get those acorns since they give you more time, and the fastest – wins.

.
Notice the acorns theme? My favorite part of the Ice Age movies is Scrat and his obsession with acorns. I had my turn at this game, and the ‘Scrat Cannon’ game the best. In this game, Scrat is launched out of the Pirate cannon. The goal is to maneuver Scrat onto trampoline targets. I have to admit though, my oldest is so much better at all 10 games included in Ice Age: Continental Drift – Arctic Games} than I am, especially when it comes to the stylus games. How is it that kids have such great dexterity? Oh ya, the games! lol

You can get Ice Age: Continental Drift – Arctic Games on Kinect for Xbox 360 for a suggested retail price of $39.99, Wii and Nintendo 3DS for $29.99, and Nintendo DS for $24.99.
