Disney has included more classic movies to their Blu-ray and DVD library, yay! You’ll recognize all of these titles, but you may not have any of them – unless you have a couple on VHS like I do. Umm, ya, those get watched often, right? {not really}.
Did seeing those titles make you smile at some of your childhood memories?
I got all these for my kids and we were all delighted. A few were watched on car trips and others were while snuggled on the couch for a movie night. The kids loved them all but gave me that odd look when I started saying, “when I was little…”. Ahhh, I’m doing it!
Here’s a short blurb on each, though you might not need a synopsis for these titles. The important part is to remember that these are now available on DVD and Blu-ray, and only for a limited time. So, if you’d like to re-kindle your youth and share a little bit of your favorite Disney classics with your kids {or grandkids}, nows the time. It’s just not a good thing to reply on your copy of VHS anymore!
The Rescuers 35th Anniversary Edition & The Rescuers Down Under
Join two of the world’s bravest mice – Bernard and Bianca – as they set out on two thrilling rescue missions full of comic adventure while soaring through the Devil’s Bayou and flying sky high in the Australian outback.
Buckle up for the ride of your life as these tiny heroes with great big hearts outrun and outwit their rivals to save the day. Brimming with lovable characters and unforgettable music, the 2-movie collection is high-flying fun for the entire family! Share the laughs and excitement for the first time on Disney Blu-ray.
The Rescuers is one that I fondly recall watching as a child, though I couldn’t remember any of the storyline. It was awesome to watch it with my girls again, and they ‘especially like the mice’.
The Aristocats Special Edition
The exciting tale takes place in the heart of Paris where a kind and eccentric millionairess, wills her entire estate to ‘Duchess,’ a high society cat, and her three kittens. When the bumbling butler Edgar tries to pull off the ultimate catnap caper in order to secure the fortune for himself, it’s up to alley cat Thomas O’Malley and his band of swingin’ jazz cats to save the day.
The special edition includes a brand new bonus featurette “The Lost Open” with Richard Sherman taking viewers through the storyboards of a never-before-seen alternate beginning which introduces a deleted character and a deleted song “How Much You Mean To Me” and “Court Me Slowly” written and performed by the Sherman brothers. This song demo was one of the few times Richard and Robert ever sang together.
Did I watch The Aristocats when I was little? I have no idea! Regardless, it’s so wonderful to add this to our collection, and my girls are all CRAZY about cats. So, they were fans right from seeing the cover.
Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp’s Adventure
Disney’s beloved classic continues in Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp’s Adventure – for the first time ever on Disney Blu-ray. Lady and Tramp’s mischievous pup Scamp is always in the doghouse.
Now, an itch for a collar-free life and freedom is sending him on the ultimate adventure! With nonstop laughs, paw-tapping songs and exciting bonus features, Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp’s Adventure is a new breed of Disney fun that the whole family will love!
I am almost certain that I didn’t see Lady and the Tramp 2 before. So, this classic was entirely new to me {and the kids}. If you have the first, get the second!
Pocahontas & Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World
Combined also for the first time in a two-movie collection, the story allows families of all ages to own these timeless stories of hope, courage and friendship together in an exciting Disney ‘Combo Pack’ Including Blu-ray and DVD, and also available on HD digital download.
The two-movie collection, Blu-ray debut features exciting all-new bonus material including “Drawing Inspiration: The Lost Story of Hiawatha,” a fascinating behind-the-scenes featurette showcasing how Walt Disney and his team were once developing a full-length animated feature called “Hiawatha,” that ultimately directly influenced the development of Pocahontas.
Pocahontas is one that we have on VHS, and my daughter did watch it form time to time on the 19″ TV/VHS combo unit we still have {..crickets..}. Don’t you love my honesty? ha! I tell ya, it’s nice to have this on Blu-ray, if only for the amazing color {or was that the 19″?}, and for NOT having to be kind and rewind!
The Tigger Movie Bounce-a-RRRiffic Special Edition
In this charming musical tale of friendship and adventure, The Tigger Movie Bounce-A-Riffic Special Edition follows Tigger as he sets off on an epic journey to find other Tiggers in his family tree. Through a series of exciting adventures he discovers that families come in all shapes and sizes.
The exciting new Blu-ray Combo Pack provides hours of viewing fun with bonus materials including two all-new features: Disney Intermission—when the film is paused, young fans can participate in a variety of Hundred Acre Wood themed games including guess the character, spot the differences and counting; and “A Tigger Tale” a featurette where the filmmakers discuss how Tigger’s literary and film history influenced “The Tigger Movie.”. It comes packaged with a family tree activity poster and stickers.
I had this on VHS, I did. I loved it! But then I had twins and early this year they decided to succumb to curiosity and pee all over some of my VHS movies. Honestly, they did! Proof:

I know, at least it was the VHS’s, right? Still, I was upset. So, I’m happy to have this film back, on beloved Blu-ray. And put high on a shelf and out of Twin Pee-nadoes reach.
~~~~~
Each 2-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack is ~$39.99 U.S./$46.99 Canada. I really recommend getting the combo packs because they are full of bonus features and sometimes activities for kids. Plus, you’ll be able to watch on either DVD or Blu-ray, which is convenient. If you can snag the 3-Disc set which has a digital copy, even better since then you can watch online. You just never know when the mood for a Disney Classic will strike!
On Friday we make the final decision and eat our Pizza and Popcorn. Our Lady and the Tramp is still on VHS, does anyone remember those? Be kind, Rewind. So a DVD version would make our day
