OPI Collections for Spring & Summer 2012

I wouldn’t call myself a total girly-girl. Though I do like to dress up on those special occasions, most days I don’t wear makeup beyond lip chap. As well, I often sacrifice doing my own hair {besides the iconic ponytail}, if it means that my 3 girls will have cute up-dos of their own.

Yet, no matter the day, no matter the season – I like to wear polish. In the summer, it’s a must since so often I am barefoot. In the Winter? It just makes my mood perk up.

Recently I received many shades from new Spring/Summer OPI Collections, for review. These really {and I mean REALLY} made me go polish-crazy. You see, I always like at least a couple colors in any OPI collection, but these – ahhh, they all made my girly heart sing. I truly let a little squeal with each I held.

Not only did they make the grey skies of Winter seem less gloomy, but it also gave me that hope for Spring. The hope that Mother Nature will soon let me show off these colors on my toes!

Holland Collection:

Inspired by the country’s range of stunning shades – as seen in vivid tulips, windmill-dotted hillsides and bustling canals – the collection’s twelve shades offer a mixture of sophisticated neutrals and highly-pigmented brights.

Since I only have so many nails, I had to enlist the help of my girls to help try out the shades. You can bet that they were all to eager to take part! Gouda Gouda Two Shoes is a rose color that looks great against a warm brown or creamy white sweater. It has a slight shimmer that pops out under the right lighting. At first I thought it lingered on Fall, yet has hints of a lighter tinge and the shimmer really catches Spring.

Thanks A WindMillion is a sea-green that is almost transparent but add on a second or third and it’s bold. This one has no shimmer.  I Don’t Give A Rotterdam is a light dusty blue with a gold and silver shimmer.  To notice this shimmer though, use more than one coat. And enjoy, it’s a color that most will love!

Nicki Minaj Collection:

Six new limited edition shades are inspired by hip hop sensation Nicki Minaj based on her unique style, love of bright colors, and her debut album Pink Friday, the Nicki Minaj by OPI promotion will feature an array of bold hues, from neon lime green to pink.

At first I didn’t like Did It On ‘Em {lime color}, it is too yellow for my liking. I would much prefer one with more green tones to it, but have to admit that after wearing it on my toes for a few days – it’s not as bad as I initially thought. If you like yellow, this one is for you though!

On the other hand, Fly is fantastic! This aqua color screams tropical waters and is my new mood-booster until the sun starts shining again. The Bubblegum Pink Friday color is popular with my girls, for good reason. This one is all pink, so paint it on and feel young again!

I still have more shades from these collections to try out before Spring and Summer 2012 make an appearance. Yet so far, I’m impressed. Done are the dull dark tones and in come the vibrant and fresh shades!
