My Movie Dates {Wordless Wednesday with Linky}

I love that the twins are finally old enough so that I can take all 3 girls to the movie theater, by myself. As long as they have a snack – they sit still, and we are all able to enjoy the movie.

We have done this for the last couple of weekends now, a great way to spend a Winter afternoon. And, if you are able to go at cheaper times {and to a cheaper theatre}, it’s not too expensive. This past Saturday we went and seen Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked. The kids loved it!

A lgirl sitting

As much as I try not to play the, ‘I can’t wait until they are old enough to…’ game, I must admit this is a great milestone to reach! I rather like my new movie dates!

How often do you take your kids to the movies?

  1. Oh gosh! I took my 4 and 5 year old nephews to Chipwrecked and I had a ball! I loved Theodore’s girlfriend say “My precious my precious” and I loved it when Alvin (I think it was him) bang into a tree saying OH my acorns!! HAHAAHA.. Clearly I had a good time. I haven’t seen a kid’s movie in yeaaaars.

    1. Ha!! Yep, those quotes are right! There were a ton of kids in that theatre and around me, I was the only one that laughed at those parts. *giggle*

    1. Mine sit better in the theature than they do for movies at home. Well, b/c in theaters you ‘have to sit nice or we have to leave’, right?
      🙂

    1. I braved it out of boredom one day. Though it wouldn’t be so easy if just one toddler needed to go to the bathroom mid-way through the movie…. I dread that!

  2. We have only brought Big Brother to the movies once but he loved it and was so well behaved.

  3. We’ve been enjoying family movies too.. have they been to a 3D one yet? Those are fun – but the LO doesn’t like to wear the glasses much…

  4. I brought them when they were a few months old but have not been “brave” enough to head there again….they just turned two! Too young?

    1. Not sure, Ginger, do they have the ‘tots and movie’ days in your area?
I know here, once a month they have a ‘babies’ showing – the volume is a little less and it’s not quite as dark.

  5. SO fun! We go once or twice a year … but now that Rye’s getting older {3} I think we may take him more often. 🙂

  6. I have taken my kids to the movies once and then just my 2 older ones. There just isn’t any English flicks for kids here and when we do get something it’s a trip to the city. I can’t wait to make “Date nights” at the movies with my kids when we get back out west.

Your kids as always are adorable!

    1. 3 kids + shoving their faces with food = about 50 photos taken and this was the best I could get.
I really hope you move West, Julia – when are you planning on deciding?

      1. It will happen, it’s just timing now. I have to get DH to do up his resume and once that’s done convince him to send it off. I swear it’s like pulling teeth. I am tempted to pack up the kids and say meet you out there. I am so done with living here.

  7. I bet the kids really enjoy it too! We’ve always made a habit out of smuggling candy and drinks in from Target (its next door) and just buying popcorn there. Ours isn’t very cheap even at the cheapest hour so that’s how we make it affordable!

    1. Shhhhh, I may or may not have stuck a huge bag of M&M’s in my daughters’ purse! And yes, you know I’m lazy Mommy when my 7yo carries a purse and I don’t!

    1. Thanks Sarah, and you should try – if your avatar is current, he might be the perfect age!

  8. I have that too now. Being a single mother I couldn’t do it with my own kids nor could I afford to back then, but now I have granddaughters that I take to the show & pizza afterwards. Have a great day. Your dates are cuties!

    1. Those must be such special times! I don’t think I even went to a movie until i was well into my teens {I have 6 older brothers and sisters}, my parents just couldn’t afford it. I know how it feels, but I then also know that when you get the chance to ‘treat’, it makes it a million times more special!!
      Have a wonderful week!!

    1. Finding the time is very hard, yes. We try and schedule in things like this, or else something else always comes up!

  9. Don’t know when we will take the children to the movies. I had actually thought about it for this movie, but I don’t think they are old enough yet. Looks like your girls had a great time. Fun.

  11. Tammi, that is cute idea which every child loves. I´m glad my little girl is old enough now to go the cinema threatre. Now our whole family can go together and luckily she sits still and enjoys the movie. 🙂

  12. I cannot wait to take my daughter to the movies!!! But right now she cannot sit still for a 30 minute show…

  13. SO ADORABLE! I can relate on the “As long as they have something to eat they sit!” LOL Same here! Thanks for the linky! Tammy

      1. It’s funny before Kids, I remember saying lot’s of things from the non-parent perspective. One being, “I will never bribe R children with food” HA HA that went out the window along with the others, LOL

  14. oh my gosh, this is sooooo adorable! my son is only 17 months old, and we have tried to go to the movies a couple times, but have been unsuccessful at sitting through the while thing…..i look forward to that day! 😉 happy wednesday!

    1. Ha! Let’s just hope they don’t ask to have that TV in the home!!
      Could you imagine… lol

  15. I cannot wait until the baby will be old enough to take to a movie, I’m just not sure what age is good. My first movie was Aladdin, and I still remember hating it because of how loud it was. Weird how we remember bits and pieces from when we were young!

    1. You know, I was trying to remember what my fist movie in the theatre was… I have no idea!!

  16. We haven’t seen Chipwrecked, but I try to take my kids every two months about. Depending on the movie. Last week on Friday we made it girls night because my daughter’s audition was spontaneously cancelled and we watched Big Miracle together. Good movie, good times. Awesome gal pals, my girls. Girl’s night is our thing. We sometimes just stay in and watch Rogers on Demand, but we enjoy our time when DAD does martial arts lessons.

    1. I agree Paula, it’s great ‘girl time’, but my daughter beams when my husband takes just her for ‘father-daughter date night’. Very special….
I have yet to see Big Miracle – would you say 3.5 year olds would like it?

  17. Cute! We tried to take Chelsea around Christmas, when she was 2 1/2 and she wanted no part of it, so we had to get vouchers and leave… all she wanted was popcorn 😛

  18. That’s great! Looks like they were having a blast! We still haven’t done the movie thing with our 3 1/2 year old, but we are probably going to try soon… I think she may sit through it if she likes the movie. I just always dread if she will start singing or talking out loud in the middle of the movie! We’ll just have to go during the day when the theater is almost empty to give it a try.
