Olympus Tough Series Cameras {TG-610}

by Tammi on 11/22/2011 · 1,425 comments

Olympus review giveaway holiday gift guideSince participating in the PENReady Project with Olympus, I still reach for my PEN E-PM1™ DSLR on a daily basis. These days I use it a ton indoors, due to the cold weather. My newest discovery with the PEN E-PM1 is how great it is to use indoors, without flash. Even my high-end uber expensive DSLR cannot grab available natural light like the my Olympus can! So you call call me impressed since I thought it would never be top choice in my DSPR collection.

I have to give kudos to Olympus for putting this camera in my hands. It was my first introduction to any of their products, and testing this one has made me a definite fan, now setting my eyes on the E-5. Hi my name is Tammi and I am a camera junkie. #ISaidIt

For my 2011 Holiday Gift Guide I want to highlight the Olympus Tough TG-610 camera {with video}. Tough is right when it boasts features that make it shockproof, waterproof and freezeproof. Sounds like this baby can hold its own when up against a family of chaos, yet still be compact to grab on the go. It’s important to choose a camera that fits into your lifestyle, read below because I don’t think there’s a feature thats missed in this model…

Key Features of the Tough TG-610

    • Waterproof to 5m
    • Shockproof to 1.5m
    • Freezeproof to -10°C
    • 5x wide optical zoom
    • Dual Image Stabilisation
    • Eye-Fi Card compatibility
    • 3D photo shooting mode {even underwater}
    • 14 megapixel sensor
    • 720p HD movies and remote operation
    • 3.0 inch 920,000 dot HyperCrystal III LCD screen
    • In-camera panorama function
    • Intelligent Auto Mode, with face detection
    • Magic Filters for images and HD movies
    • LED illuminator to lighten up underwater or macro sceneries
    • Beauty Mode
    • Battery charging via USB-cable
    • In-camera manual
    • TruePic III+ image processor

Olympus offers a complete line of cameras and videocameras, from the tiny to the grand-daddy {ahem, the E-5, *swoon*}. For being able to take it out of the box and shoot, no hassle and no fuss – Olympus deserves great consideration when looking for a new camera. And, does gear like this make great gift at Christmas? YES! Everyone needs a solid camera. Speaking from recipient experience too, there’s always a plethora of excitement when a pretty box is unwrapped and theres a camera inside. #justsayin

Thanks to Olympus and their contribution to my 2011 Holiday Gift Guide, one of my Canadian readers is going to get their very own OlympusTG-610 {ARV $249.99}
