Hot Toy Alert! ~ Mattels Fijit Friends

If you have kids and haven’t heard of Mattels Fijit Friends yet, you must be living under a rock.
No really, hello under there!

Fijit Friends are what I’d consider THE product that is making a huge buzz in toy stores, especially among tween girls. When I first uttered the name to my oldest daughter, she lit up like Christmas morning and didn’t waste a second to tell me all about it {in very fast and excited sentences}.

What’s all the excitement?

Figit Friends is a unique toy that is actually an interactive friend, with huge personalities and the ability to chat and communicate with people {and most importantly, the little of our people that love to chat as much as they do! Ahem, again, my daughter}.

There are 4 Figit Friends, all with different names, colors, personalities and well … ear shapes too. They work independently, or when you have more than one, they really chatter away. So, instead of my daughter playing with other toys and dolls and doing ALL the talking for everyone – Figit Friends talk back, have conversations and so much more.

Thanks to Mattel, my daughter got a really great opportunity to host her own vlog – one that was met with so much enthusiasm and excitement. Isabelle was sent her own Figit Friend, pink ‘Sarafina‘, and a Flip Video camera to record her hew adventures with her friend. She even took both Sarafina and her videocamera – everywhere {even on last months’ trip to Banff National Park}. She has been introducing Sarafina to everyone she meets, just like she would a real-life friend.

Have a peek at what my daughter and Sarafina have been up to {all footage included in the video was decided by her, and what she deemed to be the coolest’ part about having a Figit Friend}.

It’s true: Figit Friends can say over 150 words and phrases, and they  respond to over 30 keywords and phrases. So, if your child asks, “Tell me a joke!” – Figit will do just that. They also respond to music and media – recognizing and dancing to upbeat songs with energy and swaying to slow music. Plus, they have their own music built in too. The only downside as I see it, Sarafina’s a bit hard on the batteries. Then again, my daughter plays with Sarafina all.the.time.

Fijit Friends are new, hot for the 2011 holiday season and fully authentic. Not only do kids have fun with them, but they also encourage good self-esteem with positive conversations and talk about being a good friend and having a great day. There’s an app for that, plus, soon you’ll be able to download more phrases too. There’s a reason why there’s always a group of kids around the Figit Friends display in stores, so don’t be surprised if your child soon asks for this toy {if they haven’t already}. Figit Friends retails for $59.99 CAD, regular price and is recommended for ages 6+ and especially great for tween girls.
