I see it all the time – babies gnawing on parents’ phones. This just makes me cringe for a few reasons, two of which being germs and the high probability of them wrecking the phone {from slobber and a drop}. And I know that many parents reply on giving their babies their phone from time to time, to keep them occupied and happy. Even without being able to play a game on the thing, babies everywhere are drawn to phones! Fisher-Price has more than just an app for that {heh}, they have released the Laugh and Learn Apptivity Case.
The Laugh and Learn Apptivity Case is designed to protect your iPhone or iPod touch from dribbles, drool, and unwanted call-making, all while helping babies practice eye-hand coordination and improve motor skills. Though my ‘babies’ are too old to find anything like this enjoyable right now {except for pretending it’s a steering wheel while they run through the house}, I gave ours to a friend with a baby. And, having love for both a happy baby and her precious phone – she eagerly accepted the gift. Having one baby, she loved the idea since she always gave up her phone for some peace and quiet, especially while shopping.
Myself, this concept didn’t work for me, just because I had twins. I don’t carry two phones and giving up my phone to one, only made matter worse with the noise and fighting. On the other hand, it would have been handy for those times when I needed to keep the one twin entertained while I attended to the other. So, even those with multiples could use it!
Parents like the Laugh and Learn Apptivity Case for the fact that just because an iPhone has games, the device is not a toy {ask anyone who has had their wrecked by a kid}. And, if your baby is old enough to enjoy a good app, or even a YouTube cartoon, all the better. It’s one step to make everyone happy. The Laugh and Learn Apptivity Case can be found online or wherever Fisher-Price toys are sold, are for both girls and boys {aged 6 months+}.
