On October 4th, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will be releasing THE LION KING: Diamond Edition. After a 2 week engagement in theatres, in 3D, you can now journey back to Pride Rock and experience the impressive clear picture & sound-enhanced award winning movie from the comforts of home.

An unforgettable story, breathtaking animation, beloved characters and award-winning music sets thestage for “The Lion King”, a Disney classic that follows the adventures of Simba, the feisty lion cub who “just can’t wait to be king.” But his envious Uncle Scar has plans for his own ascent to the throne, and he forces Simba’s exile from the kingdom. Alone and adrift, Simba soon joins the escapades of a hilarious meerkat named Timon and his warmhearted warthog pal, Pumbaa. Adopting their carefree lifestyle of “Hakuna Matata,” Simba ignores his real responsibilities until he realizes his destiny and returns to the Pride Lands to claim his place in the “Circle of Life.”
I was lucky to have seen The Lion King 3D in theatres during my recent press trip to Los Angeles for the Lion King 3D premiere {where I even walked the red green carpet, check out my own Lion King 3D Premiere video!}. Being one of my favorite Disney classics for years, it’s always been one I have enjoyed with my own kids. Yet, that always involved watching it on *gasp* VHS, so having the Diamond Edition is a wonderful addition to my collection. There really is no comparison when it comes to sound and picture, Disney did a wonderful job updating and enhancing the movie to our current viewing expectations.
It’s a wonderful story, and if you haven’t yet seen The Lion King at all {what’s wrong with you?}, just watch it already! Since the Diamond Edition will only be available for a short time, think of that gifting possibility to yourself or others now and don’t wait. I also briefly mentioned the bonus feature that you have to watch – the making of and story behind the Lion King. We watched this feature when we met producer Don Hahn, and seeing how this movie came to be, was such a great story to know, so I urge you to watch it. There are also interactive features, more bonus content, and funny animated bloopers as well.
