LeapFrog: Alphabet and Numbers DVDs {Review & Giveaway}

by Tammi on 01/28/2011 · 557 comments

Lionsgate Home Entertainment and top educational toy maker LeapFrog Enterprises Inc., have teamed up yet again and released 2 new educational LeapFrog DVD’s for kids to enjoy: Numbers Ahoy and The Amazing Alphabet Amusement Park. These 2 new DVD’s were released on DVD on January 18th, and are in stores now!

In Numbers Ahoy, Tad and Lily and their firefly friend, Edison, go on journey under the sea. When a pirate mistakenly captures their cute puppy pal Scout, they must use their new understanding of counting, grouping, and estimating to rescue him. Join them as they navigate the deep and face foes such as sharks, crab henchmen, and even Pirate Pythagoras himself, and begin to see numbers in a whole new way. A couple of bonus features that my girls love are the 4 sing-along songs and a music video featuring scout!

Numbers Ahoy is targeted to ages 3-6 and includes counting, grouping and estimating. My girls took particular liking to this DVD becasue of the pirates theme, the pirate photo on the cover enticed them to watch this one first. The twins love that their favorite {and well known} LeapFrog characters are featured in this DVD. The twins are too young to count higher than 10, yet I found them repeating what they were hearing and to me – that is learning!

~~~~~~~~~
In The Amazing Alphabet Amusement Park, also intended for ages 3-6, Edison, Tad, Lily and Scout are sad to discover that their favorite Amusement Park is closed. Using the alphabet by word and song, they turn on all the rides at the park.
Since I am currently teaching the twins the alphabet, this is one DVD which I am using to help. It’s entertaining, colorful, interactive and again, the twins repeat what they are hearing. They have shown progress with their letters just by watching it a couple of times!
Since Numbers Ahoy and The Amazing Alphabet Amusement Park each have each have a running time of less than 40 minutes, I find that the twins don’t lose interest as they might with longer DVD’s. My twins have shown a lot of enthusiasm with these DVD’s, and can learn their numbers and letters at the same time! They each have a suggested retail price of $14.98.
One lucky person will win The Amazing Alphabet Amusement Park AND Numbers Ahoy DVD’s!
