Walt Disney Studios, Disney Blogger Day 1

Walt Disney Studios

This last week was one exciting and busy time for me. I was an invited by Disney, to fly to California to learn more about the new film, Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue.

My first day of this magical blogger event was Wednesday, and it started almost as soon as I landed in Los Angeles. That afternoon, I, along with the other bloggers invited by Disney {who, by the way, are just wonderful bloggers and ladies}, were whisked away to the Disney’s Burbank Studio Lot to Walt Disney Studios.

Walt Disney Studios

First of all, being invited to enter through the gates of the Disney Studios is an honor in itself, since the area is not open to the public.

Just being there made my heart skip a beat, especially being greeted by the Michael D. Eisner building – the building’s facade pays homage to Snow White’s Dwarfs. What a lovely welcome!

Our tour guide for the entire Disney Blogger Day events was Disney Historian and Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment Global Publicity Group, Mindy Johnson. Not only is she just as spunky and pleasant as Tinker Bell herself, she is one knowledgeable person when it comes to all things Disney! I very much enjoyed her company and her experienced insight.

We entered the Frank G Wells Theater, and were immediate surrounded by all things Disney. This foyer was the only area where we could take photos, and I took the opportunity to capture images of all the great Disney memorabilia on Display.

There are showcases of costumes and props from famous movies and TV shows everywhere. I took a lot of time to admire keepsakes like the costumes from Hannah Montana, Narnia Prince Caspian, Alice in Wonderland and Enchanted.

A bunch of items that are on display

Other items included many of Walt Disney’s famous hats, Mary Poppins’ Hat and so many more. Astonishing were all the Mickey Mouse collectibles, ranging from the very day Mickey was ‘born’ and onward. Such timeless treasures, and just amazing to see in person.

Also on display was one of Disney’s first Multiplane cameras, used to create the first feature length animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It is rather huge in size, and it was very interesting to learn how it worked to create animation.

Basically, it moves artwork past the camera at various speeds and at various distances from one another, creating a three-dimensional effect. We really got a sneak peek into the history of Disney, and how much animation has evolved over the years {more on that is to come}.

An office building

Inside the theater room, we were greeted by the Director of Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue, award winning, Bradley Raymond. He talked to us, excitedly, about his new masterpiece. His goal for this film was to tell the story of when Tinker Bell met her first Human, a girl named Lizzy in the movie.

He briefly described how much work and research went into this new animation film – including interviewing children, and gathering their opinions on what it would be like to meet a Fairy {including their reactions, their own questions and what they would want to learn from fairies}. I definitely saw a twinkle in Bradley Raymond’s eyes as he introduced us to his new film before we settled in to watch it for ourselves.

{Advertisement on Hollywood Blvd, I couldn’t help but notice!}

At this time, I won’t go into the synopsis and my complete thoughts on Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue {due out on BluRay/DVD on September 21}, as a full review of the movie will be coming very soon. Yet, I will say that I sat through the movie in complete awe of the vibrant color and feel of the movie. I laughed with the characters and even shed a few tears.

My only wish during the movie is that my daughter was there to enjoy it with me, as the movie reminded me so much of my daughter. The character Lizzy is a lot like her, in actions and mannerisms, which many of the fellow bloggers there agreed with. I see this as proof positive that Bradley Raymond succeeded in his goals for the movie, it truly captures the excitement and wonder of the magic behind Tinker Bell.

I cannot wait to share information about this movie with you, and also report on Isabelle’s reaction as well. She is very hyped for the release of this movie, and I already know she will not be disappointed.

My first day in California was wonderful, and a great introduction to Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue. Yet, this is only the beginning of my California experience, there’s plenty more stories of my adventure to come!

Here’s a sneak peek at the new movie, Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue!

My airfare to California, hotel accommodations, transportation and incidentals such as meals, internet and phone calls {to check on my beautiful babies at home} were provided by Disney Studios. This post was written, as always, with my opinion – and mine only. My series of posts regarding my trip are to inform my readers and also to thank Disney and Click Communications
for this magical and memorable opportunity.
