Sesame Street: 40 Years of Sunny Days on DVD

by Tammi on 07/14/2010 · 463 comments

www.myorganizedchaos.net,I grew up watching Sesame Street, learning, singing and laughing with Big Bird, Grover, Kermit and the whole gang. And, I’m happy that that Sesame Street is still on TV and my kids love to watch it, since it’s a huge bonus if a childrens’ program doesn’t cause a headache! Yet, I can’t help but to watch today’s episodes and think back to the way ‘it used to be’, with previous actors and skits. As great as the new episodes are, there’s that admiration for the old shows that parents all recall and adore. Given this, can you imagine how excited I was to get Sesame Street: 40 Years of Sunny Days on DVD for review! Don’t get me wrong, the kids were happy, yet this Mom was beyond thrilled! This DVD has over 5 hours of some of the best skits from the last 40 years, in the 2 included DVD’s. And, from the very beginning, when it had the original opening song {why, oh why did they change it?}, I was hooked!

www.myorganizedchaos.net,Did you know that Oscar The Grouch used to be orange? Remember when Cookie Monster always had a pipe, and then ate it? And do you recall how sad it was when Mr. Hoover passed away? If these examples aren’t bringing back memories, you need this DVD! It was wonderful to watch all the best moments in Sesame Street, including cameos by the fonz, R2-D2, C-3PO and more. I was smiling when I saw ‘The Ladybug Picnic’ and ‘Kermit The Frog Newsflash’ again. And it was great to hear ‘Rubber Duckie’ just once more. Some of the footage is never-seen either, so a great DVD for that collector! It also comes with a commemorative booklet and pop-up facts which covers the entire history of the show. I consider this DVD set a classic and a great waltz down memory lane.

One reader is going to get a copy of Sesame Street: 40 Years of Sunny Days on DVD!

Cool give away, any time Aiden sees Sesame Street he is glued to the TV and he dances and attempts to count, it’s sweet!!!!!
He would choose talking Elmo since he doesn’t have one or actually any of them Big Bird, Cookie Monster The Grouch, and the books that make noise!!!

My God-nephew would enjoy giving hugs to the 20in Elmo plushie~

Sesame Street was one of the few English shows that we could watch when my dad was stationed in Korea and Germany. I love the songs from back then like “Above it All”, “New Way to Walk”, Cookie Monster’s “Healthy Foods” rap, and so on.
