Girls City Giveaway
Michelle is a very hard-working single Mom of 2 wonderful boys. She works full time as a care aide for physically disabled individuals, and has done so for over 20 years. She has put a roof over her sons’ heads, provided food for them and put so much love in their hearts. She is very ambitious and gets any task done, learning what she needs to in order to do it herself {home renovation, jarring canned goods for neighbors and friends or sewing quilts for anyone and everyone that has a new baby}. I have literally never met anyone that has a bigger and more compassionate heart then Michelle. As I sit down to write this post, I feel almost a loss of how to describe the significant impact her friendship has had on my life. It’s not words that I can write or a vlog that you can see – but more of a story told from my heart…
As best friends, we share all news {good and bad}, and have laughed together to the point of tears. She is always doing little thoughtful gestures for me like recording my favorite shows while I was in labor, to big undertakings like helping to mother the Twins and my oldest daughter when I had complications due to my emergency c-section {and was almost bedridden for months following the Twins’ birth}. I am very fortunate to have a friend that offers help when my own two hands aren’t enough. Michelle is dependable and a trusted confident when parenting and life has had me at my lowest, to the point of depression. She has been my rock for many many years – the worst times being when my parents passed away, and when my marriage seemed to be slipping away. She is one that I can call day or night, and there hasn’t been a time when she wouldn’t consider dropping everything, just to help.
7 years ago, over coffee, we learned of our shared dream of someday visiting NYC. Ahh, to escape the daily tribulations as tired Moms! Yet, as you can image, it’s hard for two Canadian Moms to try and schedule and financially plan a trip to NYC together. Since then, it’s always been a topic of conversation, and never an acted out pursuit.
I recently heard that Loveable Labels is hosting a BlogHer’ 10 Getaway Contest! Not only could I possibly attend BlogHer for the first time, and represent such a fine Canadian company – but we could finally live out our shared dream. I have often tried to think of a way to possibly ‘repay’ Michelle for all the times she has saved my life – yet nothing ever seemed great enough for what she deserves. A fabulous adventure with my best friend – finally.
