Having good outdoors toys came even more apparent when the Twins gained more independence. After all, it’s much harder to take all three to certain places, and we do spend more time outdoors at home than we do away. I have always relied on Step2 toys, mainly because they are safe, fun for kids and are designed to last for a long time. Case and point, we got my daughter a Step2 slide, Tune Coupe and Picnic table all second hand when she was younger – and they are still in fabulous shape many years later and my Twins now use them. I know that purchasing Step2 is a safe purchase, and one that kids after my own will enjoy as well. And choosing quality is top priority for this Mom!
Thanks to Step2, my girls added the Gather & Grille Playhouse to their outdoor toy collection. I have to start off saying that this is one item that far outshines the others, and you will soon understand why.
- An outdoor patio area with built-in “grill” and bench for two
- Built-in kitchen with sink and fun decals
- Electronic doorbell {requires 2 “AAA” batteries, not included}
- Dutch door and large windows
- Playhouse interior 54″ tall
- Includes 5 piece accessory set
- Minimal adult assembly required
Features of the Step2 Gather & Grille Playhouse
A new for 2010, the Step2 Gather & Grille Playhouse comes in one huge box, and myself and a friend had it assembled in under an hour. It was really easy and the instructions very straightforward and simple, yet you do need 2 people to get the job done right. Unlike some of the other playhouses at Step2 which are suitable for mainly 1-2 children, this one is good for the masses! After all, it’s a house and a fine dining experience!
My girls and their friends are always very eager to play in the Gather & Grille Playhouse – it’s always the first thing everyone runs to. If there is one thing that my girls always needed, it was a playhouse. And, the best thing about this playhouse is that all 3 are able to play in it {plus their friends}, comfortably.
There are many features of the Gather & Grille Playhouse that make it extremely fun for kids. The entire playhouse is made to encourage wonderful games of make believe. In a real house, you can invite friends over and have them ring the doorbell when they arrive. One can sit on the bench and relax and chat with the person cooking up a storm in the kitchen. My girls are always busy playing house! The Gather & Grille Playhouse has a cute little living room with a warm faux fireplace with mantel clock; and a kitchen area complete with sink, faucet and stove.
The outdoor grille area {which is accessed right off the kitchen} has a BBQ with turning knobs, places to hang the utensils and a cute bench big enough for 2. My girls are always cooking something tasty, the Gather & Grille Playhouse also comes with a couple of utensils and condiments. The plastic pretend food and dishes have long left their play kitchen in the basement and now have taken up home in their playhouse.
The Gather & Grille Playhouse is made of very thick and durable plastic. Though it’s sturdy and built to last, it’s still movable – so I am able to push it around the yard so it doesn’t ruin the grass below. Yep, I’m picky about things like that – and that’s why I haven’t put up any permanent play structures in our yard.
The outside of the playhouse is really nice, as it has a dutch door, large windows and even a pretend flower basket! It’s a very attractive playhouse, well suited for my three princesses! Bets of all, kids of all ages have loved playing in the Gather & Grille Playhouse! My Twins, at just under 2 pretend to cook, prepare food, serve guests, clean house {yep!}, and wash dishes! It’s great for learning and developing skills through creative play! At the same time, I have also studied the play of up to 12 years olds in this playhouse, and they have just as much fun. So, this tells me that Step2 has done it again in providing a toy that babies to pre-teens can enjoy – and I’m sure when my many kids after my own will enjoy it just as much!
The Step2 Gather & Grille Playhouse retails on the Step2 website for $399.99 USD. Step2 is also sold at major retailers across North America and is also available in more than 70 countries!
One reader is going to get their their own Gather & Grille Playhouse from Step2! There’s a family that will be especially happy this summer!

I think the all Star Sports Climber would be great for my son! A lot of activity in a small package, like my son
. I think this wouldn’t be to much of a challenge for my active 15 month old, but also be able to grow with him. And Bonus, can be moved inside for the winter!!!
If he were older I’d definitely opt for Skyward Summit LOVE IT!

I think my little ones would love to have the play and shade patio set so they could sit outside and eat after playing in the pool.
Love their wagons. My little guy likes to sit and things and be pulled around that a wagon would be perfect.
I like the sand and water table with the umbrella. Beats sitting at the sandbox.

I would love to own the 50′s diner for my little grand daughter along with the all-star sports climber. We just bought a house and haven’t gotten any outdoor toys for her to play in/with…so that is why I would love to win or buy a few
