The first Shrek movie was, in fact, the very first theater movie I ever took my oldest daughter to see. Since then, it’s been tradition for us to see the others in the series, when they come to theaters. So, in tradition, My daughter and I saw Shrek Forever After in theaters last weekend {It was awesome in 3D!}. Then, just a couple of days later, we got the Shrek Forever After video game for Nintendo Wii for review. Thanks to Mom Central and Activision, she received the Shrek Forever After Wii game, a Shrek Forever After hard cover book {which my daughter has read about 6 times already} as well as a Mad Libs book. She was almost delirious with excitement, since the movie was still fresh on her mind. Right away, she dove into playing the Wii game. Since the story of the game follows the movie storyline, I won’t divulge details of the game as to not tell anyone spoilers. But I will say that in the game you can play as Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and Puss in Boots and battle against the corrupt doings of Rumpelstiltskin. Being an action adventure game, there are enemies to fight and obstacles to overcome. Each of the four players has their own special and unique abilities, so there are problem solving tasks to be done, in order to pass levels and advance in the game.
For kids, this game is easy to follow and play since there is a green arrow that leads the way. As well, the blind mice provide helpful hints if you need them. The written hints are also spoken, which is great for kids that cannot read yet, or just very slow in reading. Just like the story, it’s full of humor and surprises. For the parents, well, I admit that I spent my fair share of time playing the Shrek Forever After game for Wii the day it arrived {and the day after too}. Yet, I won’t admit that my daughter had to help me pass one level that I was stuck on. Nope, I won’t admit that!
My daughter hasn’t finished the game yet, and only plays it in small increments by herself or when she has a friend over. I’m sure this’ll be a fun game for her to enjoy for quite some time, and then the Twins will also play in a few years. Speaking of the Twins, they really like the Shrek characters, so they love to watch someone playing this Wii game, they make fabulous little cheerleaders!
Shrek Forever After is available now – for the Wii, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Activision and received the items necessary to facilitate my review. In addition,
Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Great review Tammi, I have yet to play ours but now I’m looking forward to it.
