Uncle Bens Whole Grain White Rice Blog Tour

by Tammi on 05/24/2010 · 306 comments

whole grain white rice uncle ben'sThe Twins and my school aged child go through picky stages, yet they do eventually try and eat most things. Well, that is except whole grain rice. For some reason, my Twins have decided to boycott most brands of rice, no matter how it’s cooked. Yet, being the determined Mom that I am, I always try, hoping that one day they’ll give in and become whole grain fans. Thanks to Mom Central, I got to try several boxes of Whole Grain White Rice from Uncle Ben’s, which will be available in grocery stores this July.

Uncle Ben’s Whole Grain White Rice cooks pretty quickly, in about 10 minutes {which is great for busy families like mine}. The first time I tried my Long Grain variety, I paired it with roasted chicken and a salad. And, I was quite pleased that the taste and texture of the rice was very similar to plain white rice, yet has all the added benefits of a whole grain rice. It’s naturally cholesterol free, low in fat and sodium, contains no trans fat and is a great source of fiber. It certainly made a nice addition to my meal! My oldest daughter didn’t even know that it was whole grain. As for the Twins, they studied the rice for quite a while before giving in. But, they did eat most of it! Aha, one point for Mom! If you are interested in some other great recipes to try with your family, visit UncleBens.com – I printed out a few that I am trying this week!

Besides the Long Grain that I tried, Uncle Ben’s Whole Grain White Rice also comes in other flavors too – Broccoli Cheddar, Taco, Sweet Tomato, Garden Vegetable and Creamy Chicken. I can’t wait to try the others when they arrive in grocery stores!

One reader will get 2 boxes of Uncle Ben’s Whole Grain White Rice {Long Grain} and an Uncle Ben’s Apron!

To Enter, Simply tell me about your picky or not-so picky eater. Do they like Whole Grains?

Actually, my grandkids are eating whole grain bread (which surprises the heck out of me sometimes) , but they don’t really enjoy regular brown rice at all, even though we keep serving it to them when they are here!

This rice sounds perfect for them & us!

My kids like whole grain breads, but last time I got pizza made with whole grains it tasted quite a bit different and they didn’t care for it..

I have a very picky ten year old!!! If he knew it was whole grains, he probably wouldnt eat it!..I like the “Bens Smart” bread, because all the goodness is disguised as “white” bread! He may or may not eat whole grain rice!

I am so thankful that my son likes whole grains. I have tried to incorporate them from the beginning and now I don’t think he knows any differently. Unfortunately, veggies are another story. It is so hard for me to get him to eat his veggies :~(.

My son is my picky eater. He will eat the basics but when it comes to something different he will not go near it. He will eat whole grains and not have a problem with it at all

My niece and nephew will not eat any whole grains if they look brown.. they only eat white bread and grains.. ugh so annoying!

It’s a fight just to get them to eat a tiny mouthful of any food, even foods they love!

It’s strange. My youngest doesn’t seem to like bread. How odd is that? Most kids love pizza, PBJ sandwiches and toast. Not my Isaak! He does like whole grain rice and whole grain noodles for homemade mac and cheese.
