Released onto DVD today, is the movie DEAR JOHN, a true romantic love story which is based on a best selling novel, the same Author of ‘The Notebook’ {Nicholas Sparks}. I immediately took interest in this movie, having adored The Notebook. As well, since the lead female is played by Amanda Seyfried {she stars in quite a lot of new movies lately}, and lead male is heartthrob Channing Tatum – I was all too willing to review this new release DVD.
Synopsis: It was two weeks that would change their lives forever. Soon after John (Channing Tatum – Public Enemies, G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra) and Savannah (Amanda Seyfried – Mamma Mia!, TV’s “Big Love”) fall madly in love, their relationship is put on hold. With one leaving to complete his service, and the other to complete her college education, they pass the time by exchanging a continuous stream of love letters, until they can be reunited permanently a year later. But when war breaks out, their separation is extended indefinitely. Will their relationship survive the greatest test of all: the test of time?
If you are indeed a fan of The Notebook, you will certainly fall in love with DEAR JOHN. The storyline is one of a timeless romance spanning years. The lead actors didn’t disappoint me in the least, they almost seemed made for the roles. In fact, I look forward to seeing them each in more movies int he future. Back to the storyline – these two lovers become dearest pen pals as they face the test of absence in their relationship. Without saying what actually happens to these lead characters, and the life struggles they face – I will say that the turn of events really surprised me. In fact, this was one storyline that I could not have predicted! Which is great, since most romantic movies are actually easily predictable. In short, DEAR JOHN is a great movie to cuddle in and watch with your loved one. And, if you are looking for a movie that will warm your heart for a couple of hours – pick yourself up the DEAR JOHN DVD!
