Proactiv | Acne Treatment System with a new formula

I’m sure we’ve all seen the commercials for Proactiv, the 3-step acne treatment system that has also been recognized with 27 coveted awards and honors from the beauty and health industry. Have you tried it yourself? Know someone that has? I have had personal experience with Proactiv, I used it just after the birth of my first daughter, Isabelle. You see, I was never one to have acne breakouts, even through the teen years. Yet something about giving birth made my hormones go out of whack enough that I developed severe acne on my forehead. At the time I was in my mid-twenties, and since it was so new to me – I had no idea what product to try. So, I tried everything – even seeing a dermatologist. At my doctors urging, I finally gave Proactiv a try. And, simply put – it worked. I saw results within the first week, and after about 2-3 months, my acne was totally gone. So, I guess I am a success story when it comes to this product.

I had been recently contacted to review the New Proactiv System, and I eagerly accepted. It is the same effective formula now enhanced with exclusive new micro-crystal benzoyl peroxide acne medicine which is designed to get the acne fighting medicine into the pores fast, penetrating even clogged pores quickly. Though I don’t have severe acne like I did 5 years ago, I do have the occasional breakout and believe that Proactiv is great for maintenance of clear skin.

One thing to remember when using Proactiv, is that very little is needed. I have found this to be my own personal trick, not only to not waste the product – but also if too much is used, it can be harder on your skin than necessary. The cleanser is an exfoliator, and has the powerful micro-crystals in it. This is a very effective product to kill acne-causing bacteria on the skin {contains prescription grade benzoyl peroxide}. Then, I add a little of the botanical-rich glycolic acid toner just to just my oily areas, and the same with the repairing treatment {again, using very little}. The repairing treatment is a light lotion that contains prescription grade benzoyl peroxide and the new micronized particles. It enters the clean, open pores and kills bacteria. It also maintains hydration and contains ingredients like Aloe, which soothes the skin.

When you purchase the Proactiv System, it comes with a free Green Tea Moisturizer and Refining Mask. This was my first experience with this moisturizer, 5 years ago the Refining Mask was the only free gift with the package. I really like this moisturizer for use when I feel my skin is especially dry and tight. The Green Tea also helps to soothe red, irritated skin as well. And, the Refining mask has always been, and still is my favorite product from Proactiv. It’s a great all-over face mask, but also works wonderfully as  a spot treatment. It has antibacterial sulfur which absorbs excess oils, heals pimples and prevents anymore from appearing. It contains vitamins and omegas, and does not dry the skin at all. Like I said, my favorite Proactiv product!

Another positive change I seen from the new System, as compared to 5 years ago, is the packaging. It may seem like a small change, but the bottles are easier to open now {and you can’t drop lid anymore}. Other changes include more diverse products added to the Proactiv name. They have moisturizing sunscreen and even make-up now! Their mineral and acne fighting make-up line certainly makes me more than curious. If anyone has tried it, please let me know!
